Non-discrimination Policy
Volunteer opportunities will be given on a fair and indiscriminate basis. Crafters will receive equal support, regardless of age, race, religion, sex, nationality. Volunteers should not refuse to interact with beneficiaries of different ethnicities, religions, etc.
Health and Safety of Volunteers and Beneficiaries
- Volunteers should not carry out duties on-site while sick or unwell.
- Should volunteers face issues, you should reach out to the respective contact persons in Social Gifting. (Refer to “Safety and Crisis Management” section below)
Safety and Crisis Management
Social Gifting has the duty to ensure the safety of volunteers during unsupervised situations.
Before the visit to the crafter’s home:
- Inform Social Gifting staff of the meeting details and individuals involved.
- Keep your mobile phone switched on and accessible at all times.
Guidelines for entering the crafter’s home:
- In certain situations, meetings and volunteering sessions may take place at the crafter’s home, but only with prior agreement from the staff.
- Do not enter someone’s house if that person or anyone present is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Remain aware of changes in mood, body language and behavior.
- Be very aware of maintaining appropriate boundaries at all times.
- When in the house, always be aware of your surroundings and place yourself with a clear line to an exit.
- Leave if you feel things are getting out of control and inform Social Gifting staff at 9831 8300 / 8756 7208 (WhatsApp).
- Do not craft in the crafter’s bedroom. Always craft in the living room or at the dining table.
Volunteers under 16 years old
- Volunteers under 16 years old should receive parental consent before committing to volunteering with Social Gifting, unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please fill out this form before your child can volunteer with us.
Right to represent Social Gifting as an enterprise
- Volunteers should not contact organizations or individuals on behalf of Social Gifting, or enter into any form of corporate or legal arrangement.
- No interviews with the media on behalf of Social Gifting are allowed.
Termination Policy
- Social Gifting has the right to terminate a volunteer’s service, should they fail to adhere to the expected volunteer conduct and policies. Grounds of termination include, but are not limited to, offensive behavior, criminal or morally-wrong acts, or an intention from the volunteer to stop his or her volunteer work with Social Gifting.
